BRIDGE Celebrates Grand Opening of Trestle Glen

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA, May 13, 2010---BRIDGE Housing today celebrates the grand opening of Trestle Glen, a development in partnership with the County of San Mateo. The ceremony will commence at 11 a.m. at 370 F Street, adjacent to the Colma BART station. The grand opening is one of many events taking place during the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County’s Affordable Housing Week 2010.

Designed by KTGY  Group, Inc., Trestle Glen features 119 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments that are affordable to families with annual incomes ranging from $16,491 to $56,550 for a household of four (20 to 50% of Area Median Income). Rents range from $403 to $1,400 per month.

The new five-story building incorporates Spanish Mediterranean design elements, and amenities include landscaped courtyard areas, a community room, a parking garage and a 56-slot child care center. Trestle Glen’s common area walls are decorated with over 40 original works of art—created by artists with developmental disabilities—from Creativity Explored, a nonprofit visual arts center.

Trestle Glen offers a number of “green” features such as solar panels to preheat domestic hot water and bio-swales that naturally filter rainwater. The apartment community recently received a GreenPoint Rating of 128 points; this widely recognized program grades homes in categories such as energy efficiency, indoor air quality and water conservation, and a minimum of 50 points is required to qualify as “GreenPoint Rated.” In November 2007, Trestle Glen received an award for its exemplary program and site design from the Grand Boulevard Initiative, which aims to transform El Camino Real into a vibrant, safe and welcoming place to live, work and play.

BRIDGE Housing President and CEO Cynthia Parker said, “We are proud of our partnership with San Mateo County, which resulted in a much-needed, transit-friendly community in a place where housing costs are beyond the reach of so many working families.”

Financing for Trestle Glen was provided by the County of San Mateo Department of Housing; California Department of Housing and Community Development; Citi Community Capital; the Housing Endowment and Regional Trust (HEART) of San Mateo County; Wachovia Affordable Housing Community Development Corporation, a Wells Fargo Company; Union Bank; Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco; and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. KTGY Group Inc. designed Trestle Glen, and the general contractor was Segue Construction.

Confirmed grand opening ceremony speakers include: San Mateo County Supervisor Adrienne Tissier; San Mateo County Housing Director Duane Bay; Chris Mohr of the Housing Leadership Council and HEART; Corinne Goodrich of SamTrans; and BRIDGE Housing’s Tom Earley.
