119 new apartment homes under construction in San Mateo County SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA, May 15, 2008---BRIDGE Housing breaks ground today at Trestle Glen, a development in partnership with the County of San Mateo. The ceremony commences at 3:30 p.m. at 370 F Street, adjacent to the Colma BART station. The groundbreaking is one of many events taking place during the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County’s Affordable Housing Week 2008. When Trestle Glen opens in late 2009, it will offer 119 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments that will be affordable to families with annual incomes ranging from $22,620 to $56,550. The new five-story building will incorporate Spanish Mediterranean design elements, and amenities will include landscaped courtyard areas, a community room, a parking garage and a 56-slot child care facility. Adjacent to Trestle Glen, Pan Cal Homes is developing 32 entry-level for-sale townhomes. In November 2007, Trestle Glen received an award for its exemplary program and site design from the Grand Boulevard Initiative, which aims to transform El Camino Real into a vibrant, safe and welcoming place to live, work and play. “This project is the result of a tremendous three-way partnership among BRIDGE Housing, the Town of Colma and San Mateo County,” said Supervisor Adrienne J. Tissier. “Trestle Glen absolutely meets the definition of transit-friendly housing, plus housing that’s affordable, with the added bonus of an on-site child care center. This is a great addition to the Colma-Daly City area.” “The groundbreaking ceremony for Trestle Glen is one of the highlights of Affordable Housing Week in San Mateo County,” said Chris Mohr, Executive Director of the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County (HLC). “Throughout the week, HLC and its member organizations like BRIDGE Housing spotlight success stories. This development for working families that includes both affordable homes and child care is a great example of such a success. In addition, Trestle Glen received an early investment from the local housing trust fund, the Housing Endowment And Regional Trust—the HEART of San Mateo County.” BRIDGE Housing President Carol Galante said, “Trestle Glen is a terrific example of transit-friendly development on an underutilized site, particularly in a county where housing costs are beyond the reach of many working families.” Financing for Trestle Glen is being provided by the County of San Mateo, the Housing Endowment and Regional Trust (HEART) of San Mateo County, the California Department of Housing and Community Development, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Citi Community Capital and Wachovia Mortgage, FSB. The architect is KTGY Group and the general contractor is Segue Construction. Confirmed groundbreaking ceremony speakers include: San Mateo County Supervisor Adrienne Tissier; Chris Mohr of the Housing Leadership Council and HEART; Corinne Goodrich of SamTrans; and BRIDGE Housing’s Lydia Tan.
