Carol J. Galante President and CEO Carol Galante is the President of BRIDGE Housing Corporation, the largest nonprofit developer of affordable housing in California. BRIDGE specializes in the development of affordable apartments and homes in an array of revitalization, transit-oriented, urban infill, and mixed-use/mixed-income developments. BRIDGE has created over 13,000 homes serving more than 35,000 Californians. Ms. Galante is responsible for the overall direction of BRIDGE, including real estate development, property and asset management, and corporate administration, as well as its major affiliates such as BUILD, an investment advisor to CalPERS under the California Urban Real Estate Program, and BASS, a licensed life care provider. She joined BRIDGE as Vice President in 1987. She is a Director of the national Housing Partnership Network, the California Housing Finance Agency, the OneCalifornia Bank Foundation, the California Housing Consortium and the Center for Creative Land Recycling. Ms. Galante co-chaired California’s successful Proposition 1C campaign in 2006 that garnered approval for a $2.85 billion bond for affordable housing and urban infill development. Ms. Galante, who was inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation's Hall of Fame in 2008, has been named in Builder Magazine’s Top 50 Most Influential People in Home Building 2006, Multifamily Executive Magazine’s 30 Most Influential Men and Women in the Multifamily Industry 2006, San Francisco Business Times 2003 Deal Maker of the Year and Most Influential Women in the Bay Area, and recipient of the 2002 U.C. Berkeley College of Environmental Design Distinguished Alumna Award. She is a licensed real estate broker and holds a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan and a Master of City Planning from U.C. Berkeley. |
Lydia N. Tan Executive Vice President Ms. Tan supervises the real estate development and project finance activities of both BRIDGE and BUILD. She joined BRIDGE in 1991 and has over 20 years of experience in the building industry, including prior experience as an architect. During her tenure at BRIDGE, Ms. Tan has been involved in or overseen the development of over 7,800 units of housing throughout California. Prior to her work at BRIDGE, she was a Development Associate at Tsen & Associates, consulting with community-based nonprofits to build affordable housing. She serves on the Santa Clara County Planning Commission and the Board of Directors of the Northern California Community Loan Fund as well as the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association. She is also on the Advisory Board of the California Organized Investment Network and a member of the Urban Land Institute. Ms. Tan is a registered architect with an A.B. in Architecture from U.C. Berkeley and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University. | Susan M. Johnson Executive Vice President Ms. Johnson oversees the property management, resident programs and asset management activities of BRIDGE and BASS, including a portfolio of nearly 7,000 units of rental and ownership housing. She joined BRIDGE in 1983 and was promoted to Vice President in 1989. Ms. Johnson is an expert in marketing and lease-up strategies for affordable and mixed-income communities and a sought-after expert in tax credit compliance and fair housing. She holds a B.S. in Sociology from U.C. Santa Cruz and has prior business and management experience. |
D. Kemp Valentine Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Valentine oversees the finance, accounting, human resources and information technology activities for all BRIDGE-related companies. He joined BRIDGE in 2005 and has over 20 years of finance and corporate administration experience. He is a Director of National Housing Partnership Insurance and serves on their Audit and Investments Committees. Prior to joining BRIDGE he worked for 3Com and Lehman Brothers as well as a number of smaller companies. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University. |
