Commitment to Environmental Health and Sustainability

BRIDGE is not only a leader in Smart Growth practices such as alleviating traffic congestion and reducing environmental impact, we are also concerned about sustainability right down to the building materials and construction methods we use.

To deepen our commitment to the highest environmental standards, BRIDGE created a Green Building Committee to explore the most environmentally sound and innovative standards and practices in the industry. Our goal is to increase the energy efficiency of our buildings, the sustainability of our methods, and the long-term health of our residents and employees.

To support our Real Estate Development team, the Green Building Committee developed construction standards and implemented a Green Screen Program to ensure that each new BRIDGE development incorporates the most economically viable sustainable and green building practices.

The Committee’s work has been recognized by honors such as the 2007 Urban Land Institute Smart Growth Award, the 2005 AIA Award for Sustainable Development, the 2005 Green Roof Award of Excellence and the 2003 State of California Flex Your Power Award. BRIDGE has also won numerous Gold Nugget Awards for “Best in the West” from the Pacific Coast Builders Conference, including a 2004 award for Sustainable Community of the Year. BRIDGE is also the recipient of a generous grant promoting green building from the Home Depot Foundation.
