SACRAMENTO, CA, April 4, 2011---Sacramento will celebrate the groundbreaking of Foothill Farms Senior Apartments at 5400 Auburn Boulevard today. The program begins at 11 am, followed by a groundbreaking ceremony and lunch. This is the first development in Sacramento County by BRIDGE Housing, a leading affordable housing nonprofit.
Foothill Farms Senior will feature 138 affordable apartments and associated community space in four buildings; anticipated completion is July 2012. The groundbreaking represents the culmination of many years of effort by the community to bring about the successful redevelopment of an underutilized parking lot as new housing.
“We’re delighted to bring affordable housing for seniors to this neighborhood,” said Cynthia A. Parker, President and CEO of BRIDGE Housing, “particularly on an infill site that offers easy access to transportation and shopping.”
The apartments will be affordable to seniors age 55 and older with annual incomes ranging from about $15,000 to $26,000 for a one-person household (30 to 50% of Area Median Income). Monthly rents are expected to range from approximately $355 to $670, depending on income and apartment size.
Financing for Foothill Farms Senior is provided by the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, Wells Fargo and the California Community Reinvestment Corp. The property was designed by Kuchman Architects PC, and TRICORP HEARN Construction is the general contractor.
Confirmed groundbreaking ceremony speakers include: Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters; La Shelle Dozier, Executive Director of the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency; Jeff Bennett, Vice President, Wells Fargo; and BRIDGE Housing President & CEO Cynthia A. Parker.
