Living At Bridge

Chestnut Linden Court

Q:         Who can live in BRIDGE Housing?

Because our homes are available at such low rates, occupancy is often limited to individuals and families who fall within a certain income range.  That range, however, varies from development to development, and even from apartment to apartment.  When we are leasing a new development, we will provide specific information regarding the restrictions on available units and the qualifications.  All of our residents must pass strict credit checks, have excellent references, and be prepared to live in a community that has high standards for its quality of life.

Q:         If I think I qualify, how do I get an apartment in a BRIDGE development? BRIDGE builds approximately 1,000 new homes each year in the Bay Area and Southern California. While it isn't nearly enough to keep up with the demand for affordable housing, it does provide many individuals, families, and senior citizens an opportunity for a high-quality, extremely affordable housing alternative. When we "lease up" a new development, it's generally on a "first-qualified, first-served" basis, which means that once we announce leasing, we move people in as fast as possible, so getting in your application and responding to information requests is critical.  We do have a mailing list, so you can be notified when we're "leasing up" a new development or when we have vacancies.  The best opportunity to get in an apartment is to apply when the property is first leased.

Q:         Who manages your apartment buildings? BRIDGE Property Management Company manages the majority of BRIDGE apartments; a few are managed by our private partners. Virtually all of our properties have resident managers as well as dedicated maintenance and administrative staff who are on call for emergencies and are vigilant about upholding our standards.  We're proud of the quality of our properties, and we know that without committed, engaged property managers and residents it's nearly impossible to maintain that high quality over time.

Q:         How can I find out the current status of a development? When will they be accepting applications? Click here for an updated status on new developments. When you contact us about a property, we will send you a packet with availability information.

Q:         I’ve applied for an apartment at a BRIDGE development and haven’t heard anything. What should I do?

Please be patient. You should receive confirmation of receipt of your application within 2-3 weeks. If you do not hear back from us, please call us at (415) 989-1111.
