Bay Area Senior Services Each year tens of thousands of senior residents are forced to crowd into their children’s homes, move into substandard and unsafe housing, and leave the communities that have been their home for decades. Often low-income seniors who are ‘aging in place’ are in difficult circumstances. Seniors are living into their eighties and nineties either independently or with their families, when really they should be having their nutrition and medical needs more closely monitored in a care facility. BRIDGE is working on several fronts to address these issues, not only by building more senior apartments than ever before but also by creating a new model to make assisted living facilities affordable. |
Through Bay Area Senior Services (BASS) a nonprofit BRIDGE affiliate, we can provide a comprehensive set of specialized services to residents of senior housing. Initiated in 1986 through a $750,000 investment by the S.H. Cowell Foundation, BASS is a state-licensed provider of healthcare, nutrition, housekeeping, and recreation programs. BASS operates the Peninsula Regent, a 207-unit continuing care community in San Mateo. |
